Kusadasi is surrounded by a large number of sites worth visiting. For instance the National Nature resort, at only 30 kilometres (19 miles) distance from Kusadasi. Here, you will find an ideal spot to find shelter from the noise of the city. You will find the resort on the Dilek-peninsula, located south of Kusadasi. You can come here by way of your own transportation or by using the usual minibuses.

Also at a distance of 30 kilometres from Kusadasi you will find another place of beauty, Sirince, named after the Turkish word of sirin, which means kind.

It is an small old orthodox village, where you can observe a perfect synthesis of the Turkish-Greek culture. The village was deserted by the Greeks in 1920 in accordance with the exchange-program between Greece and Turkey after the war of independence.

Another beautiful location is Parmukkale, 220 kilometres ( 138 miles) from Kusadasi: amongst several other options you can visit this place by booking a daytrip with one of the many local travel agencies. It is a supernatural natural and historical site (Hierapolis) with a sparkling white castle, one of the most important highlights of Turkey and unique in the world. Hierapolis was founded by king Eumenes II and was named after Hiera, honouring the wife of Telephos, the legend from old Pergamum.

One of the most important reasons for visitors to come to Kusadasi is a visit to Ephesus. This city from antiquity is world-famous because it harbours one of the seven world-wonders of classical times, the Artemision, temple of the goddess Artemis. Ephesus is situated at only 20 kilometres ( 12 miles) from Kusadasi.

The city was one of the most important trading centres in West Anatolia. The house of the Virgin Mary lies on the Bulbul mountain, 9 kilometres from Ephesus. The tomb of the Virgin Mary, situated in a lush green place, offers a special sensation. This is the place where the Virgin Mary is supposed to have spent her last days on earth. She would have come to this region together with the apostle Joan, who spent a couple of years here, preaching the gospel.

Didyma, which is situated at 75 kilometres ( 47 miles) from Kusadasi, is famous for its temple and its oracle. The temple was consecrated to Apollo and used to be the largest and richest of the Ionian temples in Anatolia. Priene, which can be visited en route to Didyma, is supposed to date back to before Hellenistic times. It is located at about 35 kilometres (22 miles) from Kusadasi and is worth visiting, most of all because of the temple to Athena on the acropolis, the highest point of the city. Also here you will find the Stadium, The Prytanion, the temple of Demeter and Persephone, the Bouleutherion, the Gymnasium and the Amphitheatre.

Miletus is also situated on the road to Didyma, 60 kilometres (38 miles) from Kusadasi. This city lies at the point where the Buyuk Menderes (Meander) used to enter the Aegean Sea. Consecutive earthquakes throughout the years have closed off Miletus several times from the sea; this explains why, nowadays, we find several different harbours.
